Si l\u2019exil fut relativement confortable pour Korngold \u2014 enfant prodige devenu c\u00e9l\u00e8bre, il quitta l\u2019Autriche d\u00e8s 1934 pour Hollywood o\u00f9 il entama une brillante carri\u00e8re cin\u00e9matographique \u2014, celui de Weinberg fut autrement dramatique. \u00c0 peine son dipl\u00f4me de piano obtenu au Conservatoire de Varsovie, il dut fuir vers l\u2019URSS, poursuivant ses \u00e9tudes \u00e0 Minsk avant de se r\u00e9fugier \u00e0 Tachkent en 1941. Chostakovitch, qui l\u2019appr\u00e9cia d\u00e8s cette \u00e9poque et dont il devint le prot\u00e9g\u00e9, facilita son installation \u00e0 Moscou.
